Another conservative blames the troops
Seems as though former viceroy (note the creeping monarchy) of Iraq Paul Bremer has done a bit of an about-face on what happened when Baghdad was looted following Saddam's being driven from power. At first he had claimed that there were simply not enough troops to maintain order, so everything got looted. Well everything except for the oil ministry - we had enough troops for that.
Now he's saying that there were enough troops in Iraq - they just weren't given orders to stop the looting.
How conveeeenient.
How convenient that is for the Shrubbery. His first statement implies that the blame for the looting lies with the people who didn't send troops in the first place, i.e. Bush Cheney, and Rumsfeld. Bremer's, ahem, updated statement implies that the blame for the looting now lies with the people on the ground giving the orders, i.e. the low-level officers and the NCO's.
In other word, it's the troops' fault that all that yellowcake went poof in the night, according to Paul Bremer.
Needless to say, useless conservative Brit Hume (R-dead gay son he won't acknowledge) didn't call Bremer on his about-face that makes the people in power look better.
