Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.

Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks at a tour stop in London.

Now we all know that a bunch of sweaty pundits have
called Maines' comment treasonous. We also know that the same sweaty pundits put words in her mouth by claiming she doesn't "support the troops", especially when she said the opposite about the military. (Yes, the brownshirt country DJs said as much on last night's newscast.) What they don't bother to explain is how dissing Bush is "dissing America", as David Limbaugh, a beneficiary of affirmative action for inbred kin of sweaty pundits, claimed. Hell, her line ain't even a diss against Texas in her elevation of ordinary Texanfolk over the dim, carpetbagging former governor.

However, Maines' statement was BS, given that Shrub is from Connecticut, not Texas.

One might look at the name for the site "Republicons.org" and be skeptical of it as possibly a bit of leftist hackery. But when the site possesses a Senator Al Gore speech transcript from 1992 that details all the ways that George H. W. Bush helped to prop up Saddam Hussein's efforts to obtain nuclear weapons and Bush's efforts to prop up the Saddam regime after the Gulf War, that tells me that there is something more at work there. These are not the words of some conspiracy theorist; they're from someone who is quite intimate with the facts of the case. And if you want the whole thing, they have it as a PDF as well.
