Redefinition

Quote from GOP activist and Youngstown State poli sci chairman William Binning on Ken Blackwell's primary victory...

It's a redefinition of the Ohio Republican Party.

Oh, so instead of the party of crooks, it's now the party of malicious neglect.

Wanker of the Day

Atrios' wanker is Chris "Boozehound" Hitchens. Mine is Hugh Hewitt.

Those wacky ex-gays

Pam Spaulding at Pandagon and Pam's House Blend has a thing for the ex-gay movement. That is, she thinks they're hopelessly silly and should be made fun of whenever possible. (Damn right they should.)

So it should be some great fodder for her when one her favorites, ex-gay activist Linda Harvey claims that HIV testing results in higher rates of infection. Says the silly one herself:

The Cleveland center website also states, regarding Ohio law:

A minor can consent to – or refuse – an HIV test for AIDS without parental permission.

Well, this may be the law, but it needs to be changed. Is it better to
offer anonymous testing for minors – or to encourage better child-parent
relationships? Which do we think has the longer-range potential of helping more
kids, more of the time? The HIV rates aren't going down and kids are clearly
being encouraged, even seduced into having high-risk sex. Something is clearly
not working.

Yep. That's right. HIV testing encourages TEH DIRTY SEX!!!!1!!1!

We know what Plame was working on

She was tracking nuclear weapons in Iran.

As far as I'm concerned, Aravosis doesn't go far enough. It isn't just treason committed by the outer of Valerie Plame Wilson and all the other people that were covered by the Brewster-Jennings shell company. This should be a death penalty offense.

Karl Rove had a security clearance. He had enough to know what they were working on at Brewster-Jennings. As far as Rove was concerned, he scored a twofer in outing Plame. Number 1, he scored cheap political points against a Bush critic - because criticizing Bush is verboten in Conservative World. Number 2, Rove could foresee that an Iran close to having nuclear weapons would make a good bogeyman and help the GOP at the polls. Outing the people at Brewster-Jennings, who were working to stop Iran from being a nuclear power, served that purpose. Was Rove trying to kill national security in order for the GOP to save it? That's what it looks like to me.

This is Julius Rosenberg-level treason committed here. Rove shouldn't simply be shown the door, as Aravosis says. To paraphrase Sheriff Cobb in Silverado, we should give him a fair trial, followed by a first-class hanging.

Wifely Expectations Guy

We all remember that, right? One Travis Frey gave his wife a Contract of Wifely Expectations, and The Smoking Gun was there. Well, the trial went down, pardon the expression...

He was found guilty of sexual assault, though the Pottawatomie County DA couldn't get a conviction on kidnapping. (The jury had 11 men on it, too.) Frey possibly faces 11 years for that. He also hasn't been tried yet on the 30 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. That sounds like 30 illegal piccies out of 99,000 dirty pictures on his hard drive.
